Brielle was born on March 29, 2017. She was born with a rare joint condition, called "Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita". A term used to describe a variety of conditions involving multiple joint contractures (or stiffness). A contracture is a condition where the range of motion of a joint is limited. It may be unable to fully or partially extend or bend.
The cause of arthrogryposis is unknown, & there is no cure for the condition, but treatment options are available to alleviate its symptoms.
Brielle has had 6 surgeries, her first surgery at only 3 months old, all of them being "tendon" releases on the upper & lower extremities.
The initial purpose behind the name of our restaurant, is to bring awareness to Brielle's condition. 1 out of 3,000 children are born with this condition. There are only a handful of Orthopedic Specialists that are even aware of this condition, much less know how to treat, or enhance the quality of life for these kids. Thankfully, Brielle has an amazing team of doctors & Physical therapists. Shout out to OU Children's Orthopedics, Dr. Gregory & Dr. Lansinger. Also, the Outpatient Physical Therapy Crew, particularly Daryn & Emma!!
We have added a link to the official AMC Awareness Foundation. This website has a ton of knowledge and their mission is: "To provide and encourage more understanding and mutual support among anyone affected with the diagnosis of arthrogryposis multiplex congenita (AMC). To create a higher standard of AMC awareness by means of conferences, meetings, and studies."
We appreciate the love you all show whether it be patronizing our establishment, ordering online, or even a simple note of encouragement on our social media platforms!!
